FIRST BANCHETTO EXPERIENCE

BANCHETTO is an Italian word which means 'feast'. Along Ortigas, there's this event every Friday which they called Banchetto. They have a big portion of the road closed and you will see there a lot of stalls which offer different kinds of food. Name it and for sure they'll be able to grant the food you're craving for.

I heard a lot about it but it was my first time to be there last night. Together with some friends (which by the way, was their first time to be there as well), we pave our way to the crowd to check each foods that they have. It was difficult to select what to eat, 'coz when you're there, seems like you want to taste and try them all. Not to mention the thick group of people which you will bump in, it's like shopping at a mall during a  holiday rush. That's why I was not able to take a lot of photos because of the crowd.

But it was a good experience. They only have that once a week, from Friday night or 12 midnight (technically Saturday) until the Saturday sun shows up. The best part of going to places like this is you have the opportunity to try a dish that is something new and exciting. Don't be tame by sticking to what you are used to. Just try it, if you didn't like the food then walk to the next stall.

There are tables and chairs provided at the end of the street, but with the number of people there, lucky for you if you will get one. So our friend Kate, was just so prepared that she brought a table and 4 chairs. Haha! It's like we are having a picnic, not under a tree this time but with all those high buildings.

I loooove this Aligue Rice that I bought. YUMMY! It's just 65 pesos and it has a big serving.

I will definitely come back there!

GLEE WEDDING

I was able to watched Glee last night at ETC. I really am not an avid fan of Glee wherein I need to make sure that I don't miss all the episodes or I would buy it's DVD to watch the entire season. I am actually not updated or even familiar with all the characters. But I love watching Glee, it's just that when I don't have the time, I didn't make an effort to catch up.

Since it was my rest day, I was able to watch it last night. I enjoyed the episode. It was Kurt's Dad and Finn's Mom wedding day episode. They had a Glee wedding! For the entourage, they dance down the aisle. Though I find it a little theatrical, it was kinda cool. And when it's the Bride's turn, to walk down the aisle, she just looks pretty and awesome with all those cute dance steps. I love the Bruno Mars' song 'Marry You' which was so perfect for the entourage. His song 'Just The Way You Are' was also played in the episode and it makes me realize that it would make a good song for weddings as well.

As I've watched that episode of Glee last night, it makes me want to be a Wedding Planner. LOL! I would like to make weddings that not only the couples would cherish but also the guests who would enjoy attending the said occasion and makes them fall in love. =)

I'M AN ADDICT!

I've been lacking sleep lately. I know I've been a total addict online user and I could feel that it's high time to avoid it, especially when I still have work the next day. OMG! This would mean a very hard struggle in my life. LOL!  Will need to limit myself being online like every other day, oh no, make it just 2 hours a day. Haha! I'll try. Wish me luck!

RAINY SUMMER =(

It says on news that it will be a rainy summer here in the Philippines for this year. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), large parts of the country, would have a wet summer characterized by above-normal rainfall in March, April and May. Our country will be experiencing La Nina in the next 4 months.

That sucks! Summer is my favorite time of the year. I love how the sun becomes so hot during this season. I know some people hate it but I really like summer days. Now that it's only January, we are already experiencing rain everyday on a late afternoon and that makes me real sad. =(

COCINA JUAN

I am hearing a lot about Maginhawa St. at UP Teacher's Village. How a lot of restaurants are there in which they offer sumptuous meal for affordable prices. So yesterday, it was Saturday afternoon, I am just curious and so eager to go to that place. I send a text message to my high school friends and invited them to eat out. I truly love them, because they give in though it is a short notice. We were planning to see each other anyways, we just can't find time. Oh well, unplanned things as they say, were the best!

It was just me and Leslie at first. We walk along that street and look for a restaurant that has a feel-home ambiance, since our friend Lhan, will be bringing her 6 month old son. We decided to dine in at Cocina Juan. It was a very cozy place, seems like you were just in the living room of your own house. The place was not big, has no-fuss interiors, but I do like the red and yellow painted walls. They also have an outdoor dining area with tables that has cool tiles, it's perfect for coffee and some cigarette.

Here's what we have on our table:

Pesto Con Aligue Pasta
- My food. This is their specialty when it comes to pasta. It tastes good, I just ask for more Parmesan cheese because it's a little tasteless for me or maybe I just like salty foods.

Cocina Juan Pesto Pasta (Leslie's food)

Cocina Juan Pesto Pasta (Lhan's food)

Pita Pizza
- Did not enjoyed it. I didn't like the taste of the pizza sauce.

Potato Wedges
- I like the best! A little crisp with tasty flavor of seems like garlic powder and it becomes more delicious when you dip it into the garlic mayo.

Overall, the place and food was superb!

I also had their coffee which is really great. Too bad I forgot to take a photo of it. But I do have a pic while sipping their
Hot Cafe Moka...

And these were my best high school buds that I haven't seen for a long time...

(Me, Lhan, Leslie)

So, if you were a food lover like me, you will definitely enjoy Maginhawa St. I already have in mind what would be my next stop. Heehee. =)

OATH TO FOREVER

My friend already got married. The wedding was celebrated with only a few people close to the couples' lives. It was a simple ceremony with so much heart melting events. That night was filled with love. It's so romantic to see couples getting married, reminiscing the first time they met,  getting amazed how they were able to surpass the trials, promising to be there for each other at all costs and make the love stay till the end.

But ask me if I would like to get married again? Nahhhhh, I don't think so. Been there, done that! I had my chance back then. I will just be forever in love watching couples do their exchange of vows. Sweet!

Congrats Ricsi and best wishes to my beloved friend Moi.
Stay in love with each other!

WEDDING DAY

Got a wedding to attend to tonight. A very good friend of mine will be officially married starting tonight and moving forward. The venue is too familiar for me, I am sure it will bring old good memories from the past. Because I had my own wedding at the exact same place.

I am happy for them. I feel excited, I love weddings! That's how optimistic I am, though mine was not the wedding I've wanted plus the fact that it didn't worked out. Just because my marriage was not a happily ever after, it doesn't mean that I would need to be cynical about it.

I think I am more excited than the bride. Haha! Will post photos and I hope I get to use my camera right.

I NEED TO LEARN

Taking photos has always been a pleasurable pastime for me. I often bring my point and shoot camera then and take pictures of anything I would like to. That's why I decided to buy an entry level dslr camera last December to be a little more serious of this hobby.

Others think that if you already have this kind of camera, then all your photos will turned out great. I am sorry but it is actually not. Having it will require quality time to get to know that thing! LOL. My new camera has been with me for like almost 2 months now and ask me what settings to do for a certain shot - I'll laugh hard at you coz in all honesty, I don't have any clue!

Talk about ISO, shutter speed, aperture and all others? Oh please, give me some time to comprehend baby. Haha! I am one impatient person who really can't endure reading manuals and watching online video tutorials. But I know that I should force myself to. Because if not, then I won't really be able to master it.

It still excites me though, but what I need now is patience for me to really learn the do's and don'ts. I am actually thinking of making another blog and posts there the photos, so I could also see if it is improving or what not. Hoping I could find time soon!

AWESOME DAY!

Okay, the saying above is an overstatement! LOL.
But yes, I am in a happy mood and I just had an awesome day! =)

Looking at the photo above, I can't help but sigh.
A very simple sigh of awe. Such a nice view.

THEY'RE LIKE SANDPAPERS

 In life...
when you encounter mean and hurtful people,
treat them like sandpaper.
No matter how rough they may scrub you,
you end up polished and smooth.

CAMERA WHORES

One morning, me and my best gurl went to this place to do some picture taking. Cam whores? Uhmmm, kinda. LOL! Thanks to Arby, a very good friend, who cooperated to do our craziness and agreed to take our pictures. =)

Photo addict? Nahhhh.. I don't think so. Haha!

I'll be featuring the place soon. It's a cool hang-out and they offer good food that is very affordable. I'm planning to go back there with my lil' man, they got these big chess pieces that I know he'll love. He loves to play chess and the good thing is you could actually borrow one from them and play there.

We were all occupied by our work and such stuffs.
We only get to see each other when there is an occasion.

HE COMPLETES MY DAY

My lil' man is sooooo sweet! As of this writing, we're here at our room, he's watching cartoons and I am browsing the net. He was eating pork cracklings while watching and he also keeps on feeding me. He always make sure that we share everything.

He is actually asking me to stop browsing the net and is commanding me to go to sleep now. Oh well, I am about to follow him after this post. LOL! These are the wonders that completes my day and I am a one lucky Mom.

I have a parole officer, a boss, a body guard, a counselor all wrapped into one, he's 9 years old and he's my son!!!

DINNER OUT

I was just mentioning with my fam yesterday this resto named Cafe Lidia, how a lot of people were saying that the food was good and that it was such a nice place and all. So when it's almost dinner, we decided to just eat there. We've waited for like 20 minutes until there was an available table, because there were really a lot of people that time. But the crew was accommodating, they were already getting the orders while waiting so that when a table is available, you already got your food there. Mind you, the waiting is worth it, because true enough, their food tastes real good! I'll definitely go back there to try their pastas.

I am actually thinking of visiting different restaurants and try to be a food critique. Food blogging is actually fun, so I think that'll be my project. Excited much. LOL!

Tapsilog
(my Dad always wants to try this meal first, it's his fave!)

Cheeseburger with Fries

Beef Salpicao

Pork Belly with Java Rice
(not sure if they really called it Pork Belly, but my brother says so. LOL!)

It's there Pizza Special

DO YOU STILL HAVE A NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION?

The time i started this post...

It's now past midnight and sleeping is not even in my mind. I am currently in my room, my lil' man is already sleeping and me is typing my thoughts. I actually missed this. The late night, everyone was asleep, quiet surroundings while composing into writing your thoughts. I want to take this opportunity to blog. Since it's a new year, I would like to blog about those new year's resolutions and all.

It's now 2011 and 2010 was just another year you can cherish down the memory lane. I am wondering.. why is it that most people always got a new year's resolution for themselves? Do we really need to wait till new year to make things right or set goals for ourselves? Nothing against, me is just wondering. LOL!

I do set goals for my self. It's just that I don't plan ahead of time. I work on what I got as of the moment. I have learned to live life at the present and not to worry what will happen in the future. Don't get me wrong, coz it might sound like I don't care about my future. But I think of it this way - I need to make things the way I want it at the present and the future will take care of itself. None of us can really tell whatever is in store for us in the future. But I am a firm believer that whatever happens in your future is just a mere result of what you did today.

I am reflecting on what I've become at this time of my life. Then looking back, I've realized that I never even thought or planned anything of it before. But I am thankful for everything that happened in my life. All those experiences, may it be good or bad, were part of what I am as of the moment. I have no regrets and would still want to live my life at it's fullest.

I would have to say that the most important lesson life taught me thus far is that: GOD has a plan for me! God has a plan for every single person in the world. Whether something good or bad happens, it all works out for the best in the end. Your life may take turns that you don't want to happen, but it is only in time that you will understand why your life had to take that turn. One piece of advice: trust and believe. Just be the best YOU that you can be.
